Ludmila Gurchenko (November 12 1935 – March 30 2011) was born in Kharkov, Ukraine. Both of her parents worked in musical philarmony. Ludmila moved to Moscow to learn acting in the Institude of Cinematography. At age 21 she had a role in the movie-musical „Carnival Night“ which later became an extremely popular movie and brough Gurchenko an overnight fame and popularity. At the same time this role became a curse for Ludmila as most viewed her as a one-role actress and didn't invite to work. She did have some roles later in her career and was still popular and recognized at the age of 70.

Ludmila Gurchenko received the title People's Artist of the USSR in 1983 and in 2010 she was awarded the Second Class Order of Merit for the Fatherland.

Ludmila Gurchenko was married 5 times and had one daughter. She died 1,5 months after she broke her hip and underwent a surgery at the age of 76.
