Ruslana Lyzhichko who is mostly known and goes by her first name, Ruslana, was born May 24 1973 in Ukraine. Starting at age 4 she was studying music and began singing. She graduated from Lviv Conservatory as a classical pianist and a conductor. In 2003 she released an album called Wind Dances, inspired by the Hutsuls folklore music and dances. This album brought Ruslana much success and recognition, and a consequent win at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004. She is married to a music producer Aleksander Ksenofontov.
Did You Know?
Winner of Slavyaksniy Bazar in Vitebsk in 1996. In 1999 Ruslana received an award “Person of the Year” and her song “Svitanok” was named a Song of the Year.
